Oh, hello.

"Tara!"

A Tagalog word synonymous to the phrase, "let's go", "tara" evokes wanderlust, urges one to be in the moment, break loose, and just ... Go.  Somewhere.  Anywhere.  But move.  Now.

There is a sense of urgency when one says "tara".  It's often uttered when one is itching to go elsewhere, do something, often invoking someone else's company.  I thought it appropriate to use this Tagalog word as the title of this little travel blog.

My family and I have used this word frequently.  "Tara, Mom," is often said by the kiddos, asking me to go with them.  To the bathroom, to school, or even back to our beloved Atlanta.  And off we'd go.  Finding new places, living small adventures, making our little corner of the world a tad brighter with our discoveries.

As much as we would like to stay still in just one location and take root, my family and I have been moving from one place to another, mainly driven by career changes.  We've gone north, south, east, west, even midwest:  Connecticut, Georgia, Manila, California, Michigan.  At times, we're not even together in the same country or state.  Just when we've "adopted" a city, claimed it as our own, circumstances would change and we'd have to uproot ourselves once more.  It's been exhausting, at times heart-breaking.

For now, Silicon Valley is home.  We are still adjusting to and learning about the Bay Area, its culture and peoples. I've since learned to accept and be grateful for these opportunities to move, to travel.  How many people are given the chance to live in different places?  How many people get a chance to start anew in another city?  How many people are given career opportunities that allow them to travel and even reinvent themselves?

And so we have decided to create this little blog and share our travels and other endeavors, and hopefully inspire others to discover their corner of the world, or at the very least, entertain you, dear readers, with our adventures, gaffes, and discoveries.

So whether it's to the next 'hood, the next city, or an exotic destination, we invite you to join us in our journey.  Tara.
